It was the freshman 40, not the freshman 15, that caused Eileen Darwin's parents to send her to a 7-week weight-loss class. That was more than 60 years ago. Darwin has adhered to the rules she has learned there and her weight has barely fluctuated by more than 2 pounds in the years since. Darwin, 83, says it was one of the wisest things her parents gave her, a firm foundation for good health.
