A beaming, outgoing Janet Silva, 12, of Gambia, met reporters March 9, 2017, at the Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Parkm less than a month after undergoing a complex surgery to remove a six-pound tumor from her jaw that had made it difficult to eat, breathe and talk.
