Beware of circum-fetishists posing as parents and/or women. We had one, oddly enough, who called 'herself' Janice some time ago on babycenter. 'Janice' - I'm so sorry for you. Really. It's sad that life has boiled down to nothing more than sick efforts to convince people to circumcise their babies.

“…you are fooling yourself.” Really? How many men do you know that would be thrilled to hear that their circumcision cut 7 YEARS OFF THEIR EXPECTED SEX LIVES? Circumcised males become dysfunctional on average, 7 years earlier than intact men. How many men want to hear that their circumcision cost them the MOST SENSITIVE nerves on their entire penis? Circumcision amputates the ridged band, much of the inner mucosa, and often removes the frenulum. How many men desire a SHORTER penis? I haven’t received any memo to that effect, so I’m guessing that the answer is NO! Fooling ourselves, perhaps, but, I don't think so.

kevin (30 Mar): "i believe that the procedure leads to a shorter penis." I agree, and most objective observers agree. Men who have painful erections due to "tight" cut almost certainly have lost length. More importantly, it reduces girth at distal end. There's no consensus yet about these size issues, due to no reliable study of comparative dimensions being done. This much is indisputable: Circumcision results in less penis. And what's lost is the best part for sexual sensing. See Taylor, Brit Jour of Urology, Vol 83, Jan 1999 Online at http://www.cirp.org/library/anatomy/cold-taylor/

Janice:"[Intact penis] is ugly and gross . . . dirty and smelly." What tragic ignorance, bias, bigotry, and sexism. Does our society condone such hate mongering against some men? Does the LA Times condone it? Maybe one or two out of every 10,000 intact males would make that true after several weeks of not bathing, but it was never true of any of the thousands of intact men I've lived around throughout my lifetime, sharing classrooms, athletic venues, showers, locker rooms, dorm rooms, and pup tents. Where do advocates of circumcision find such men as they describe? Or is the question: What sort of warped mind dreams up such hateful drivel?

Hmmm.... every single one of my girlfriends who have been with both intact and circumcised men left their sons intact. I've only been with intact men and have no complaints. As long as the man showers on occasion there's no hygiene issue. It takes my husband maybe 3 seconds to clean under his foreskin. If only my intact female genitals were so simple to clean!

Janice, its sad that your preference almost always involves men circumcised against their will. Its sad that you spread myths that niave parents will use to convince themselves that cutting their baby is the right thing to do. Obviously, you are entitled to your preferences, but please pick a less revolting way of expressing it. Instead of describing natural men as "dirty and smelly", maybe describe yourself as a circumfetishist - that would make you the oddball (which you are) instead of the natural man.

Submitted by: Janice She will also admit that she considers circumsized to be cleaner. Being clean or hygienic is the responsibility of each person - it does no good to blame the body parts. You say, that men who defend being natural(intact) are fooling themselves - why is that? You also say, that being natural(intact) is dirty and smelly. How is that? Was nature/creator foolish for designing and producing the male foreskin? Or is it certain human beings, who are the fools for seeing ugliness, dirt and smells in the foreskin - rather than the pleasure and functionality it brings it owner.

Frank- I must say, I never looked at it that way, The foreskin is an excellent way to filter out shallow, ignorant women.

To Angelina: I was referring to the women that I know. I personally only know one woman who prefers uncircumsized and she only likes it because she likes men who are not American. She will also admit that she considers circumsized to be cleaner. Like I responded to JorgeM, it is a personal preference. You find pleasure in uncircumsized, I do not.

To JorgeM: It is a personal preference. If I don't like it I don't have to be with someone who is intact. You say it about pleasure, both the man's and mine. If I don't find pleasure with a man who is intact then it is a waste of time for me and for him.
