The 2012 Dirty Dozen: Fruits and vegetables containing the most pesticides

These fruits and vegetables have earned their way onto the Environmental Working Group's "Dirty Dozen of Produce" list because they've been found to contain the highest concentrations of pesticides. The group recommends consumers seek out organically grown versions of these items to avoid pesticide exposure. If you aren't sure whether a fruit or vegetable is organic, the EWG recommends you look at the little sticker: Certified organic produce is always assigned a five-digit number beginning with 9. -- Jessica Damiano
