Long Island Adventure Race
It's time to get dirty.
There's another mud run this weekend on Long Island. The Long Island Adventure Race takes place in Calverton on Saturday.
It has a codename, Operation Tomcat. The race takes you through the woods and a host of interesting obstacles along a 5K route on the Grumman site.
If you have never run a mud race and you are thinking of diving in, this is a fun and challenging way to start. If you're not a strong runner, that's OK. You can walk/run the course while doing the obstacles.
If you like running but haven't done a mud race, this is a bit more fun than your average 5K road race.
The forecast for Saturday's race is 86 degrees and partly cloudy.
There's more mud down the road. On September 7, the Survival Race returns to Riverhead.
