The Jets are very much interested in Michael Vick, although it's too soon to tell just how far the negotiations have gone.
The Jets would like to move quickly on securing a free-agent quarterback. But Vick, 33, isn't their only option.
A source said Josh McCown, 34, plans to visit the Bucs, Texans and Jets, in that order. But there's a chance McCown won't make it to Florham Park. He said Monday on Sirius XM Radio that he knows the "one or two teams'' he's going to play for and that he wants to get a deal done quickly. The longer it takes for him to meet with the Jets, the more unlikely they are to land him.
Vick, who also has drawn interest from the Bills and Raiders, reportedly has not scheduled any visits with the Jets. Mark Sanchez remains on their roster.
Jets sign Folk. Almost two weeks after placing the franchise tag on Nick Folk, the Jets announced they signed the kicker to a four-year, $12-million contract that includes $2.1 million guaranteed. He would have earned $3.566 million this season if he had played for the franchise-tag amount.
Howard to Raiders. Tackle Austin Howard, a free agent after his representatives and the Jets were unable to reach an agreement on a multiyear deal, agreed on a five-year, $30-million deal with the Raiders, according to a source at ESPN. Locking up Howard had been one of the Jets' top offseason priorities.
