An Oceanside man was arrested on July Fourth after Nassau police said he was in possession of hundreds of fireworks.
Joseph Tullo, 29, of 307 W. Henrietta Ave., was conditionally released to probation at his arraignment Sunday on charges including illegal storage of explosives and buying, using or transporting explosives without licenses and certificates. He is due back on Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said they were called to his home at 7:40 p.m. after receiving complaints about fireworks violations. Officers saw Tullo in front of his residence wiring mortar tube racks, police said.
According to authorities, 539 mortar tubes had been set up and loaded with shells.
