Nassau announces more DWI arrests
Continuing their campaign to raise awareness about drunken driving, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi and Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvey announced 59 more drunken driving arrests in the county.
Of the 59 drivers arrested from July 14-21, 48 of them are featured on the county's "Wall of Shame" photo array "to make sure that their friends, neighbors and families know about it."
Seven of the suspects are under 19, and four were charged with violations, the county said.
Suozzi has vowed to post the mug shot of each defendant on the county's Web site. Hundreds have photos have been posted since the campaign began with arrests over Memorial Day weekend.
"We are sending a message in Nassau County -- if you've been drinking, and you decide to get behind the wheel of a car, we're going to arrest you," he said in a news release.
