A 14-year-old boy was in stable condition Friday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night in Uniondale, Nassau police said.

The unidentified boy, a student at Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School in Brookville, was crossing northbound in front of 1027 Jerusalem Ave. at 9:35 p.m. when a black sedan struck him.

The boy, who was returning with friends from a function at Turtle Hook Middle School, was thrown about 30 feet, police said.

The driver fled the scene. Police recovered forensic evidence from they hope will help identify the make and model of the car.

The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition with head injuries, in the pediatric intensive care unit, police said.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
