Brooklyn woman killed as son, 1, sat in car nearby

A Brooklyn woman was stabbed to death early Monday with her 1-year-old son just feet away in the family car, police said.

A suspect, described by police sources as the boyfriend of the dead woman, Aisha Bristol, 27, was being held last night at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. He had been rushed there after he tried to commit suicide yesterday afternoon in Queens by swallowing Clorox.

Bristol, 27, was slashed across the throat by her killer, who fled the scene, Hart Street and Lewis Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Police found Bristol about 20 feet away from her navy Toyota, with her son, Nehemiah, inside.

Police said it appears Bristol had just placed the boy in the car when she was confronted by a man armed with a kitchen knife.

After the 7 a.m. attack, the suspect dropped the knife and ran off.

Police sources said Bristol about a week ago filed an assault complaint against her boyfriend.

Bristol recently moved into the Roosevelt Houses after a few years spent moving at least several times. She had a job at Kennedy Airport, working for the Transportation Security Administration, said her cousin, Roberta Smith.

"She was a good mother," Smith said, struggling to hold back tears. "Her baby was everything to her. He was the apple of her eye. It's a tragedy. We grew up together. We did everything together."
