There's just one day left to take advantage of
New York City's anti-smoking program, which is giving away free
nicotine patches and gum.
The New York City Health Department says 15,000 people so far
have enrolled in the program, which ends at midnight Thursday.
People wanting to enroll should call the city's information line
at 311.
The health department says Brooklyn has the most enrollees so
far, with 28 percent.
The free no-smoking help aids began two weeks ago when the city started a new TV ad campaign with a former smoker named Marie. She told how smoking caused circulation problems that resulted in 20 amputation.
