Senator Charles Schumer is proposing a bill to give the FDA stronger oversight to regulate human tissue transplants. This comes in the wake of claims by Patricia Battisti of Franklin Square that she became infected with syphilis from contaminated tissue used in an operation on her back. The Senator made the proposal at a Melville press conference Monday.
