A fire just after 3:00 am destroyed one building and heavily damaged a house in East Meadow. The Nassau County Police and East Meadow Fire Dept. received multiple calls stating there was an explosion at 1714 Front St. NCPD Unit 105 was the first on scene and confirmed that one building, a garage was burning and had collapsed to the rear of that address and that a house next to it had ignited. The house is located at 151 Maple St. and the rear of the house was fully involved . The fire spread into the house and went through the roof. The occupants of the Maple Ave. house were evacuated by Police Officers. The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes. The cause of the fire and explosion are under investigation. There were no reported injuries, the Wantagh and North Bellmore Fire Depts. assisted at the scene while an additional North Bellmore unit stood by with North Merrick at East Meadow's Firehouse
