Cops: Woman cashed her dead dad's benefit checks
An Amityville woman cashed her dead father's veteran's benefit checks for a year until she was arrested Monday on a grand larceny charge, Nassau police said.
Sandra D. Pollard, 45, of 90 Madison Ave., Amityville, was to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead, on a charge of third degree grand larceny, police said.
Pollard deposited $11,794 worth of checks meant for her father from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs meant to her account at the Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union in Garden City from June 2007 until July, police said.
