Convicted sex offender arrested in Mastic Beach drug raid
A convicted sex offender faces drug charges after officers raided his Mastic Beach home and found crack cocaine, marijuana and Vicodin pills, Suffolk police said Friday.
Responding to complaints from neighbors, police arrested David Arnold, 33, of 9 Fawn Place. Arnold was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Police executed a search warrant at Arnold's home and seized an estimated half an ounce of crack cocaine, some marijuana and Vicodin pills along with drug paraphernalia that included digital scales, razor blades and plastic bags for packaging, police said. More than $2,500 cash was also confiscated, police said.
Arnold was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services records show Arnold served prison time following his 1994 conviction in the rape of a 13-year-old girl.
Following Thursday's raid, another resident of the home, Angela Kentucky, 48, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and issued a field appearance ticket.
Seventh Squad Narcotics Enforcement Special Operations Team (NESOT) detectives, with assistance from the Narcotics Squad and the Seventh Precinct Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE) Unit, conducted the investigation as part of the Mastic-Shirley Initiative.
