Jayde Taylor, Australian hockey player, shares viral photo with Queen Elizabeth II
An Australian hockey player’s selfie is getting the royal seal of approval from Queen Elizabeth II.
Jayde Taylor snapped a photo of herself with teammate Brooke Peris after winning a match at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Thursday. The Queen, who was in the Scottish city taking in the games, posed behind them with a broad smile on her face.
That was followed up by a tweet to @TheEllenShow:
“@TheEllenShow I think our selfie tops yours! #queenselfie #queenphotobomb #hockeyroos #callme,” she tweeted, referencing the infamous Oscars selfie.
Taylor’s royal photobomb selfie had been retweeted more than 6,500 times by Thursday evening.
We are definitely amused.
Here’s reaction on social media:
The Queen just won the photobomb game, everyone go home, you can't beat this. pic.twitter.com/nS6MQpvjnT— Dr. Frank-N-Furter (@lisalovesbacon) July 24, 2014

I swear the Queen's only intention for the next few weeks is to walk around Glasgow and photo bomb as many athlete selfies as possible— Scott Langford (@Sportrepreneur) July 24, 2014
