Cache School Board to review grade configurations

LOGAN, Utah - LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The president of the Cache County School Board says he wants the board to revisit a change in grade school configurations at four valley elementary schools.

The board voted 6-1 last week to change the configurations at Greenville, North Park, Summit and Sunrise school to K-5.

Currently, Sunrise in Smithfield and North Park in North Logan are both K-2 schools with students in kindergarten through second grade. Students then move on to Summit in Smithfield and Greenville in North Logan, which have students in third, fourth and fifth grades.

Board president Jonathan Jenkins says concerns from parents have prompted him to ask the board to reconsider the issue at its Dec. 3 meeting.

Superintendent Steve Norton says he recommended the board make no changes.
