Some Florida residents kicked off their Fourth of July weekend with a barbecue grill and a 12-foot snake.

Residents in Florida City, Florida, trapped a python inside a barbecue grill Thursday night, according to Arnold Piedrahita Jr., a public information officer at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Piedrahita took to Twitter to spread the word about the rescue, sharing a picture of the large reptile.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom Response Team responded to a call from residents and caught the python “in @FloridaCity last night at 10 pm.#whileyouweresleeping,” Piedrahita tweeted.

The snake is being turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, according to Piedrahita.

According to ABC News, the snake is a Burmese python, which is classified as invasive species in South Florida.

“Heck of a way to kick off the 4th of July weekend,” the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue declared on a Facebook post about the incident on Friday morning.
