Weekend family fun on Long Island: Harlem Globetrotters, 'Beauty and the Beast' and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From the Harlem Globetrotters to Disney performances, crafts and more, there are plenty of activities happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:
Harlem Globetrotters at Nassau Coliseum (1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale). The Harlem Globetrotters give fans the chance to decide which rules will affect the game including "Hot Hand Jersey," "Make or Miss" and "Trick Shot Challenge" on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Prices start at $17.
Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood at BroadHollow's BayWay Arts Center (265 E. Main St., East Islip). On Saturday at 2 p.m., check out a hilarious take on the classic fairy tale, set in the 1950s, in which three princes want to woo Red Riding Hood and a hula-hoop competition ensues. Price: $12, $10 (in advance).
Family Scavenger Hunt at Sherwood-Jayne House (55 Old Post Rd., East Setauket). On Sunday at noon, families can enter a scavenger hunt and use the clues provided along the nature trail. Price: $8; registration is required.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. at Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts (2 E. Main St.). This musical based on the 1991 Disney film of the same name follows Belle, who must learn to love an enchanted prince trapped in the body of a beast on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Price: $15.
