Teacher's aide charged with assault could be in TX
GREAT FALLS, Mont. - GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — Investigators are working to bring back to Montana a former Great Falls middle school teacher's aide accused of abusing an autistic boy by placing his head under water after he dozed off in class.
Great Falls Police Sgt. Jeff Newton said Kristina Marie Kallies is believed to be in Texas. An arrest warrant has been issued for her on a felony count of assault on a minor and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children.
Police are making arrangements with Kallies to bring her back to Great Falls to face charges that she and another former teacher's aide at North Middle School, Julie Ann Parish, held a 13-year-old boy's head under water after he dozed off in class or didn't complete his schoolwork.
Parish is charged with felony assault on a minor and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children. She made her initial appearance in Cascade County District Court on Monday and was released on $5,000 bail.
The aides denied the allegations during a school district investigation.
