Obama's new TV ad raps McCain for taking "low road"
Barack Obama's campaign launched a new television ad last
night declaring John McCain has taken the "low road" in the presidential campaign - a direct response to the Arizona senator's new television spot likening Obama to celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.
"He's practicing the politics of the past," the Obama ad's narrator says as headlines from various news media outlets stating that McCain has gone negative flash across the screen.
"John McCain. Same old politics, same failed policies," the narrator says.
McCain's advertisement juxtaposes clips of Obama with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. It calls the Illinois senator "the biggest celebrity in the world" and asks whether he is ready to lead the country.
"With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling," the narrator says. "Higher taxes, more foreign oil, that's the real Obama."
But while Obama and other Democrats are criticizing McCain for likening Obama to Hilton, the Illinois senator jokingly made the same comparison in 2004.
" Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," then Senator-elect Obama said at a Gridiron dinner in Washington, D.C.. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."
