1 dead, 27 hurt in Chinatown blaze
Three residents leap to safety, fire officials say
A pre-dawn fire yesterday tore through a Chinatown tenement-style building Tuesday, killing a young couple, wounding more than 20 - including three residents who jumped to safety - and sending dozens out into the bitter cold in their pajamas.
A source at the New York Fire Department said the blaze was most likely started by an extension cord that somehow caught fire.
