A Valley Stream man died Tuesday after a car accident in Brooklyn that left the other driver involved in police custody, New York City police said.
Nikon Vouyiouklis, 60, heading northbound on Remsen Avenue in Canarsie at 4:58 a.m., was trying to turn left onto Glenwood Road when his 2010 Toyota Camry was struck by a 2011 Infiniti G-37 sedan driven by a 25-year-old man, police said.
The Infiniti, traveling south on Remsen, then veered to the right and struck a telephone pole, police said. The Camry struck three parked, unoccupied vehicles on the west side of Remsen, police said.
Vouyiouklis, in critical condition, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center where police said he died of his injuries. The Infiniti driver, taken to the medical center in stable condition, was taken into custody, police said. Police did not identify the driver or say whether the driver was charged.
The NYPD collision squad is investigating.
