Christiano’s in Syosset, the pasta-parm house long debated to have been the inspiration for Billy Joel’s “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” finally closed on Monday. The Singh Hospitality Group announced its plans to shutter and reinvent the "bottle of red, bottle of white" restaurant last year, then gave it a reprieve in August.
What about the Billy Joel memorabilia that defined the...Read more »

Mulberry Street of Seaford is now serving pizzas, pastas and parms in the freestanding building that last hosted Butera’s of Seaford. Owner Christos Paloubis said he has a family affiliation with the longstanding Mulberry Street of Babylon Village, which has a similar menu.

The Smithtown offshoot of Uncle Bacala’s in Garden City Park has closed. The place opened in 2011 but hadn’t really been making money, according to owner Peter Hewitson. “There are about 35 Italian restaurants within a mile or two,” he said, noting also that traffic problems and road construction had added to the restaurant’s woes.
Meanwhile, the original Uncle Bacala’s in Garden City Park...Read more »
