Funeral for Charlie Wassil, Ground Zero first responder on 9/11, in Cortland Manor

Charlie Wassil, a retired Peekskill Police Department detective who lived in White Plains, was a first responder at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. He was 52, and died after a long battle with a rare lung disease. Family, friends and fellow officers from several departments honored his memory at a funeral Mass at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor on Saturday. (May 4, 2013)
