Funerals, wakes held for shooting victims

A slew of services took place today as those killed in last Friday's shooting are gradually laid to rest.

NEWTOWN - Five funerals and six wakes took place today across Connecticut for victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Funeral services for Allison Wyatt, 6, were held at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, while the funeral for Benjamin Wheeler, 6, was held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown.

Catherine Hubbard, 6, was also laid to rest. Her parents released a statement thanking first responders for their efforts during and after the tragedy.

As for faculty members killed last Friday, friends and family gathered in Trumbull to honor Mary Sherlach, 56, who allegedly ran toward the shooter in an attempt to stop the attack.

Lauren Rousseau, 30, was also eulogized at a service in Danbury, while Anne Marie Murphy, 52, was buried in Westchester. Police say both women died as they shielded their students from gunfire.
