'American Chopper' run, UFO fair invading Orange County
The custom motorcycle shop behind "American Chopper" will host a charity run this weekend, after the county accommodates the annual Beacon Barks dog parade and Pine Bush UFO Fair and Parade.
First up is Saturday's third annual UFO Fair, which kicks off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with a 5K run-walk starting on Center Street, followed by a street fair with live performances, games, vendors and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will also guest speakers, a car show at Pine Bush High School on Route 302, a UFO-inspired parade that starts at Crispell Middle School and ends at the appropriately named Cup & Saucer Diner and the regional premiere of the film "In the Night Sky: I Recall a UFO." When Sunday morning rolls around, if you still need to get revved up, head to the Orange County Choppers' headquarters (14 Crossroads Court, Newburgh), where fans of running (and custom bikes) will run and walk in 5K and 10K races to raise money to benefit the Hudson Valley SPCA. The race starts at 10:30 a.m., and it's a good way for "American Chopper" fans to fill the void left behind by the reality-TV show's final episode.
