Hudson House River Inn
2 Main St. Cold Spring, NY 845-265-9355
Hudson House River Inn is on a majestic stretch of the river, which at this juncture courses past Storm King and the near-vertical face of Breakneck Ridge, gaining speed as it flows into Cold Spring village before departing toward towering West Point and Highland Falls. If you are lucky enough to be enjoying a drink or a meal on the veranda, the river gives quite a performance. This 1830s 13-room hostelry holds a quaint steak-and-seafood house with river views. (Actually, at this stretch it is technically a fjord, defined as water hemmed in by v-shaped glacial cliffs.) A casual tavern offers a pub menu. Walk to the riverfront gazebo for the full visual effect. –Bryan MillerHours: Mon-Th: 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 5-9 p.m.; Fri: 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 5-10 p.m.; Sat: 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 5-10 p.m.; Sun: 11 a.m.-3 p.m., 4-9 p.m.
