LEVITTOWN - The NYPD says they have two people in custody that they believe are responsible for a string of gas station robberies through Nassau and Queens.

Officials tell News 12 they began chasing the pair in a car after they refused to pull over early this morning.

According to police, the two suspects stopped their van and jumped out near the intersection of Colden Street and Elder Avenue in Queens. Cops say they then ran into the nearby park.

The NYPD says they caught a suspect in the park, then caught a second person a short time later. They say a gun was recovered at the scene.

Officials say the suspects may have been behind as many as 15 gas station robberies in Queens and Nassau.
