Homeowners, renters and small business owners who were affected by Hurricane Sandy have until 5 p.m. Friday to apply in person for Individual Assistance from FEMA at the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Orange County Fire Training Center, 9 Training Center Lane, New Hampton.
Applications will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the Disaster Recovery Center closes at the end of day Friday, said County Executive Edward Diana in a news release Monday.
"Our hearts go out to the victims of the storm," Diana said. "I urge those who are in need of assistance to take advantage of the many avenues open to them, even with the DRC closing at the Fire Training Center this Friday, one may still apply for help by registering online or by calling FEMA's 800 number. Residents are also encouraged to dial 2-1-1 for any unmet needs related to Hurricane Sandy."
Orange County residents may apply for Individual Assistance by registering online at disasterassistance.gov, by smartphone at m.fema.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
