A white powdery substance mailed to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign office at Trump Tower was deemed to be harmless, the NYPD said late Thursday night.
Police and fire personnel were called after a campaign staffer opened the envelope Thursday night.
An FDNY spokesman said fire and rescue services responded just after 8 p.m. to a report of the white powder at 725 Fifth Ave. in midtown Manhattan.
It was not immediately clear what the substance was, but authorities determined it was harmless, police said.
It’s not the first time a property with ties to Trump has been sent a mysterious substance. Eric Trump, one of his sons, received a letter with nonhazardous powder inside at his Trump Parc East residence in March.
