Woodmere family mourns man killed in Brooklyn
A Woodmere family was in mourning Thursday night for Vladislav Tolstykh, who died in a confrontation outside his Brooklyn market.
Tolstykh, 34, was attacked Saturday afternoon in Brighton Beach by someone -- possibly two men wearing masks -- trying to rob him as he pulled into a parking lot near his market, Brighton Bazaar, police sources said.
He was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
Tolstykh was known to carry $15,000 to $20,000 on Saturdays, and detectives suspect the assailant or assailants knew his routine. Police said no money was found on him, but it wasn't clear if any had been taken from him.
The medical examiner said an autopsy was inconclusive and that more tests are being conducted. Police are treating the case as a homicide, the sources said.
