The Historical Society of the Nyacks will host a new exhibit, "Nineteenth Century Treasures," from 1 -- 4 p.m. on Saturdays starting Feb. 2. The exhibit will run through March.
The local treasures are a special quilt, blanket, diary and a notebook. The quilt is the Nyack Star Quilt, which was made by a group of women and girls to raise money for the Civil War effort.
Other artifacts are a blanket woven for a wealthy West Nyack farmer in 1834, a diary written between 1891 and 1895 by a West Nyack woman who took over the family farm, and a notebook that details life in South Nyack from 1799 to 1855.
Refreshments will be served at the opening. For more information call 845-358-0552. The Historical Society of the Nyacks is located in the basement of the DePew House at 50 Piermont Ave.
