President Bush Visits Louisiana Emergency Operations Center

September 3, 2008 (Baton Rouge, La.) - President Bush participated in a briefing at the emergency operations center in Baton Rouge. The briefing addressed work that remained to be done to restore electricity, alleviate flooding, and release energy or oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

President Bush said, "All in all, the response has been excellent. But the people here understand that there is more work to be done. And that's why I came down here with members of the federal government to listen and to figure out how to help." More at Whitehouse.gov

Coast Guard Cutter Delivers Aid to Georgia

August 27, 2008 (Bat'umi, Republic of Georgia) - U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Dallas delivered 80 pallets with more than 76,000 pounds of relief supplies as part of Operation Assured Delivery, the U.S. military's ongoing effort to support the Georgian government's request for humanitarian assistance.

ICE Agents Arrest 595 in Mississippi Facility

August 26, 2008 (Laurel, Miss.) - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents arrested 595 illegal aliens from eight countries at a manufacturing facility for crimes including aggravated identity theft and fraudulent use of Social Security numbers. Eight criminal cases focused on charges of aggravated identity theft have been accepted for prosecution. More at ICE.gov
