NY State could lose$407M in U.S. highway aid
ALBANY - New York stands to lose $407 million in federal highway funds because of a wrinkle in a law set to expire this month, officials said Tuesday.
The 2005 funding law steered more than $6 billion to New York for improvements to roads, bridges and other projects. The law also anticipated that states would fail to spend all the money before Sept. 30 and required it be taken back.
