Paterson takes aim at unions, says he'll balance budget

ALBANY - Gov. David A. Paterson last night stridently dismissed television commercials attacking his budget proposals, saying he would achieve a deal by the April 1 deadline.

Paterson, before a noisy crowd of about 1,000 people here, took aim at the Greater New York Hospital Association and Local 1199 of the Service Employees International Union, which represents 275,000 health-care workers....
