The Piermont Post Office, closed since it was flooded by Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29, reopened for business on Dec. 26.

"We had five and a half feet of water in here," said Joe DiCasoli, officer-in-charge of the post office. "Actually, we're partially opened for business. We have no money orders and limited stamps. We're mainly opened for our P.O. Box customers."

Piermont resident Marc Farre, who lives nearby and stopped in the Piermont Post office today, said, "We've been waiting for it to reopen. I have a P.O. Box there. It's a friendly place. It was wonderful going in there again. And it has that new post office smell, if there is such a thing."

The Piermont Post Office is at 393 Piermont Ave. in Piermont.
