A Roosevelt man was ordered held without bail Sunday after Nassau County police arrested him for allegedly shooting another man twice Friday morning as the victim walked along a Hempstead street.
Police said the victim, 49, was walking on Margaret Court in Hempstead at 6:55 a.m. Friday when James McCullough, 41, came up to him while displaying a handgun.
McCullough then fired several rounds, wounding the victim in the backside and right forearm, before leaving the scene, police said.
The victim, who police said knew McCullough, was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.
Police found McCullough at his home and arrested him at 9 a.m. on Saturday. He was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
At his arraignment on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, McCullough was ordered held without bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
