Judge gives yellow cab hail app the green light
A judge yesterday lifted the legal roadblock that prevented the city from testing an app to help New Yorkers hail cabs.
Judge Carol E. Huff ruled against a group of livery cab companies who charged in a lawsuit that the "e-hail" pilot would hurt business.
In her decision, the judge pointed out the app -- which would allow users to request a cab -- is only in the testing phase.
"The program is aimed at determining whether such issues and others will arise, before the [Taxi and Limousine Commission] must commit to more permanent rulemaking," she wrote.
A lawyer for the plaintiffs couldn't be reached for comment.
