Fuego Picante, a Mexican barbecue restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, is now closed. Having gone through a recent change in chef and menu, it was the most recent in a series of Singh Hospitality Group-owned dining spots to founder in the same space. Its predecessors were Kansas City Smokehouse, RUB BBQ, Long Fin, BeSi, Ruby's Famous BBQ and Louis & Marxx.

Open in Huntington: Cilantro Mexican Inspired Food

A new branch of the Northport-based Cilantro Mexican Inspired Food is now composing tacos, burritos, fajitas and salads in the Huntington space last occupied by Wild Rocket.

Lots has changed since the original Cilantro opened last year, according to  owner Artie Burke, who collaborated with chef Christian Velasco on the current menu at both places, now equipped with convection ovens.

If you have a craving for the fragrant chicken stew, hearty vegetable chili or messy-good fajita burritos at Gold Mine Mexican Grill in Greenlawn, you have until about 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve to get over there for your fix. The new 212 Sushi Lounge in Rockville Centre takes over the former digs of Chichen Itza, a short-lived Mexican restaurant. The space has been entirely gutted and renovated, said Jeff Foroglou, who co-owns the new dining spot with Barry Huang, a partner at Aji 53 in Bay Shore and Smithtown.
