A freeze warning has been issued for some parts of eastern Suffolk County from 3 to 9 a.m. Friday, meaning that conditions that "will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation" are "highly likely," the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures are expected to range from 25 to 30 degrees in the Pine Barrens area and register in the low 30s in most other locations, the service said.

Forecast to stay above freezing are the North and South forks from Southold and East Hampton east to Orient Point and Montauk Point, the service said.

A frost advisory is in effect for western Suffolk for the same time frame, meaning there's a possibility for near freezing temperatures and that "sensitive outdoor plants may be damaged or killed."
