Long Island and the metropolitan area was lightly dusted on Saturday morning, but the promise of significant snow accumulation melted quickly.

The early morning forecast is for Long Island to get less than an inch of snow, which may be washed away by rain after 1 p.m., the National Weather Service in Upton said.
