Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the "Peanuts" gang are heading to Long Beach to spread some holiday cheer to families affected by superstorm Sandy.

The free event will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Long Beach Ice Arena (150 West Bay Dr.).

The holiday celebration includes a movie screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and other popular "Peanuts" Christmas specials, photo opportunities with the characters and a craft station where kids can decorate tree ornaments, cookies and more. Light refreshments and treats will be served.
