Looks like Long Islanders can look forward to Thursday, a day that’s expected to bring dry skies and temperatures closer to normal, before unsettled conditions set in for Friday and into the weekend, forecasters say.

“Beautiful — enjoy it,” is how National Weather Service meteorologist Jay Engle describes Thursday, with its sunny skies and highs around the mid-70s, a bit cooler on the East End.

Clouds increase overnight, though, with chances of rain and areas of fog Friday afternoon, the weather service said, along with showers and thunderstorms for Saturday.

Friday could see highs mostly around the low 70s, the mid-70s for Saturday; and possibly the low 80s for Sunday, which is Father’s Day.

Sunday does bring a chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon, he said, and get ready for a hit of humidity, thanks to a tropical air mass heading this way.
