Long Island faces a slight chance of showers early Thursday before a mostly sunny day develops, forecasters said.
“The best chance for any early showers will be in Nassau County and western Suffolk, with just a shower or two possible,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Matt Hammer said. “Otherwise, mostly cloudy in the morning with sunshine developing in the afternoon.”
The National Weather Service said showers will lurk until about noon with daily highs in the low to mid 70s and south winds at 5 to 9 mph.
Hammer said temps could reach as high as 76 in some areas, with winds shifting slightly, east-southeast.
Cloudy and cool conditions develop Thursday night and into Friday morning. Overnight highs are in the upper 50s, Hammer said.
Friday is a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs in the lower 70s, Hammer said.
The stretch of weather starting Friday and continuing through Monday is pretty favorable, Hammer said. Rain, clouds and thunderstorms could develop Tuesday, he said.
Friday through the “Father’s Day weekend looks great,” Hammer said.
