Light winds and "abundant moisture" in the air Thursday morning are creating a London-like fog enshrouding parts of Long Island, the National Weather Service said -- forecasters noting that the morning commute is expected to be impacted.
After the fog lifts later Thursday morning, don't expect much improvement in the weather. The weather service is calling for showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with rain and clouds into the evening. Forecasters said the fog should lift by 10 a.m.
On the bright side, temperatures are expected to remain moderate to warm, with highs in the upper 70s.
But though the weather service is calling for sunny skies Friday, that sun likely will be short-lived. A chance of showers is in the forecast for Saturday.
And it's supposed to rain Sunday, with temperatures will likely remaining in the 50s.
