Potential for minor coastal flooding on South Shore

The South Shore of western Long Island and New York Harbor may experience minor coastal flooding around high tide Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said.

Tidal departures 1 to 1 1/2 feet "above predicted astronomical high tides" are expected, potentially causing minor coastal flooding "in typically vulnerable spots," the weather service said in a coastal flood statement.
