Forecasters at the National Weather Service said rain is on the way. Enough of it to soak us the next two days.

Showers began late Tuesday afternoon and heavy rainfall is expected for tonight -- maybe as much as an inch.

The Weather Service pegs the chance of rain at 90 percent.

That rain continues Wednesday, forecasters said, and is expected to last well into the night, with the chance of rain at 80 percent.

Rain will be heavy at times, forecasters said. Brisk winds of between 15 mph and 20 mph Tuesday could make conditions worse. Those gusting winds should die down Wednesday, when breezes of between 5 mph to 8 mph are expected.

The good news is that sunshine returns Thursday and mostly sunny skies are on tap for the weekend, forecasters said. But temperatures are not expected to get much above the mid-70s all week.
