Kenneth Schachter
Ken Schachter has been to the Seine, the Jordan, the Willamette, the Mississippi and the Nile, but he remains partial to the Hudson River.
A native of Brooklyn, Schachter is a graduate of the University of Oregon and Northwestern University.
The father of two has worked at Red Herring, The Miami Herald, The Jerusalem Post and Newsday and has taught journalism at Hofstra University.
Once an avid jogger, Schachter now gets his exercise on wheels. Last year, Schachter sampled several pies as he bicycled on the Discover Hudson Valley Ride. He hopes the ride will offer pies again this year. Schachter also has a big dog who takes him for walks.
Schachter is a devoted fan of the Mets, Knicks, Jets and (Oregon) Ducks.
He frequently is surprised by the wisdom of children. For example, his 14-year-old son, a baseball player, once said: "You know, when you go to bat trying to get a walk, you strike out. But when you go up trying to get a hit, you get a hit."

Ray Rice is running a reverse by bowing out of plans to go to a New Rochelle sports bar after tweeting his plans to 435,000 followers, his publicist said.
