This is a 1993 file photo of 12-year-old Polly Klaas of Petaluma, Calif., a kidnapping and murder victim. After waiting anxiously for the trial of Richard Allen Davis, 41, accused of killing their daughter, Klass' parents heard the defense open its case with a blunt announcement _ He did it. Public Defender Barry Collins told jurors Wednesday, April 17, 1996, that there was overwhelming evidence to show that Davis kidnapped and killed 12-year-old Polly, but that there is no evidence that Davis sexually molested the girl. The admission appeared to be an attempt to keep Davis off death row. The girl was missing for two months before Davis led authorities to her body near Cloverdale.(Credit: AP)
